Welcome and Introductions: Tracy Scully
The First meeting of the AES/PTG for the school year 2002-2003 was called to order at 7:00 PM.
Secretary Report: Cherylan Camire
Discussion: The Secretary report for 6/3/03 was reviewed.
Conclusions: Secretary report was accepted.
Treasurer’s Report: Rachel Belanger
Discussion: Rachel explained the Treasurers report was not available to be reviewed at this month's meeting.
Conclusions: She will provide it for the October meeting.
Principal Address: Kyle Rhoads
Mr. Rhoads started the meeting with an introduction and welcoming speech:
*He shared his background and then gave some of his ideas about educating the children of Acton.
*He stressed the importance of getting actively involved with the school and states that attending the PTG meetings is a great place to start.
*Communication is very important to him. He states that he welcomes you to approach him in the halls to say hello or to set up an appointment; He states he respects your input and wants to work with you.
*He acknowledged that Acton students and parents will notice "change" taking place with the new administration, but he feels the changes will be made in order to provide a safe, educational environment for everyone.
*Volunteering: Kyle welcomes you to help our school become a better place by donating your time and expertise.
*No Child Left Behind Act: Kyle briefly reviewed the legislation. Teachers are working hard to improve the school.
Teacher Representatives: Tracy Scully
1. Sylvia received $50.97 to make nap bags and pillows for the full day kindergarten students.
2. Guy received money to purchase a new overhead projector for his classroom (approx. $250.00). Guy also requested volunteers for the sixth grade camping trip!
3. Marilyn thanks us for all our hard work.
4. Rachel F. shared her background Thank-you to Guy, Sylvia, Rachel F., and Marilyn for attending the first meeting :)
PTG has $1,162.00 left in the general fund. We need to push the fund-raisers in order to support the children this year!
Sell that wrapping paper- Innisbrook is always a huge fund-raiser!!!
We need volunteers for the 2003 Halloween party on October 24th!! There will be an organizational meeting on Monday, September 29th. Brandi's girl scout troop is interested in organizing this function with the help of a few volunteers.
Sue M. is looking to restructure the work force needed to pull off the Christmas Bazaar. Sandy Knapp has volunteered to take over this event, but more people are welcome to become involved.
