Welcome and Introductions: Cheryl and Tracy
The fourth meeting of the AES/PTG for the school year 2003-2004 was called to order at 6:45 PM.
Secretary Report: Cherylan Camire
Discussion: The Secretary report for 12/3/03 was reviewed.
Conclusions: Motion was made by Andrea Berry to accept the minutes as written, motion was seconded by Tracy Scully, all were in favor. The secretary report for 12/3/03 was accepted.
Treasurer's Report: Rachel Belanger
Discussion: The Treasurer's report for the month of December 2003 was reviewed.
Conclusions: Motion was made by Andrea Berry to accept the report, motion was seconded by Cherylan Camire, all were in favor. The Treasurer’s report for December 2003 was accepted.
President’s Report: Cynthia Stanton
*None Given as President was not able to attend this months meeting.
Teacher Representatives: Tracy Scully
Virginia Calvo: Attended meeting and thanked PTG for all that the group does for the school.
Pat Reeves: Thanked PTG for paying for the Odyssey of the Mind registration. She reported that the groups are having bake sales to raise additional money. She announced that we have 6 teams this year! The state competition will be held at the beginning of April.
*The Parent vs. Faculty basketball game will be held on Friday, February 6th at 7:00PM. Interested parents should contact Jim Driscoll at 636-3529. Faculty who are interested in playing in the game should contact Tracy.
*The annual shoot-a-thon will be held on Thursday, February 12th. AES K-4 students will shoot between 5:00 and 6:30pm, grade 5th-8th students will shoot between 6:30 and 8:00pm
*Tracy shared that Lisa Cote would like to run a candy bar fund-raiser. The funds would be allocated to the sports account. Tracy will turn over the information she has on this fund-raiser. PTG agrees to pay for the up front costs of the candy bars. Kyle will look into new USDA regulations for foods being sold in schools.
Principal Report: Kyle Rhoads
*Acton Elementary School Day at the Sea Dogs is on June 10th at 6:00PM. -Sea Dog tickets are now on sale! *Tickets can be bought through the principal's or superintendent's office. Adults- $5.00 Students- $4.00.
*Kyle handed out flyers from Carol Wendell, RN, about the flu. He also provided web-sites for flu information and A web site called Lexicon of learning which is a web site of educational terms. He also gave Cheryl fundraising web-sites. These web sites will also be added as links to the web page.
* Kyle has enrolled AES in the Verizon x-credit program. Individuals can sing up with Verizon and 5% of all their long distance charges will be donated to AES. Call 1-877 x-credit for more information . Cheryl will contact Verizon for literature to send home to student families.
*There will be no school on Friday, January 16th for a teacher workshop day!
*Kyle also presented a request from the schools Crisis Action Team for 6 walkie talkies and a charger costing approximately $120.00. Cheryl made a motion to pay for the walkie talkies, Andrea seconded, all were in favor.
*Rick K. would like to be reimbursed for the reader notebooks he purchased at the beginning of the year $285.46.A motioned was made by Rachel to pay half of the cost of the notebooks, Tracy seconded. This motion was not approved. Lorri made a motion to pay for the total cost of the notebooks, Sandra seconded, this motion was not approved. Discussion on the floor continued and a motion to approve half of the cost was made by Lorri and seconded by Sandy, all were in favor. PTG will reimburse him for half the amount $142.73.
Web Site: Lorri Driscoll informed the group that the Web Site will be going on line on Friday. She will email everyone a link to the site . Please feel free review the site and email comments to her. She will be having a viewing on the web site this Friday at 1:30 pm in the computer lab. All are welcome to attend. Lorri will also prepare the results of the survey for the next meeting.
Scrapbooking Fund-raiser: Staci Howes shared a fundraising idea: Croppin' For Kids Sake
$25.00 registration fee includes demonstrations, scrap-booking opportunities, vendor ideas, and lunch. It is an opportunity to crop with friends and get out for the day. There will be a fund-raising committee meeting Wednesday, January 14th at 7:00PM.
Holiday Bazaar: Sue reports the event was a huge success. The event brought in $952.00. The money will go towards purchasing supplies and gifts for next year. This is Sue’s final year doing this event. She has prepared a step by step guide on how she has run the event in the past. She will lead a committee meeting in the upcoming weeks to go over it more thoroughly. She will set a date and send out an announcement.
· PTG has changed it’s meeting format. The PTG will schedule the “business” part of meetings at 6:45pm. This will include the Secretary and Treasurers Report. The reports will be provided to all who attend regular meeting. Hopefully, there will be more time for other discussion during the 7-8pm hour meeting.
· Discussion about updating by laws and formalizing guidelines to some extent about process of funding various requests that come to the PTG. This is tabled for a future meeting.
Ice Cream social: Raised $350.00 after the holiday concert. Thank you to all the volunteers!
Penny Drive: The Penny Drive brought in $855.80. Thank you!
