Cheryl Camire – PTG President
Updating on Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTG will again cover the Teachers Duties. Also there will be a Massage Therapist at the school on Tuesday and Thursday for 3 hours each day. The massages will be 10 minutes each. Teachers will need to sign up in the office. It is on a First-Come First Serve basis. Also there will be an Ice Cream Social after the Staff meeting on Wednesday.
We have talked about sending appreciation letters out more often for the help individual's give to the group. Feedback has been positive from sending out a token of thanks. We will continue to do this.
The Storage Cabinet is now in the basement. We will put all the items we use regularly in there so the Board can have access to it at all times.
We will have a table at Kindergarten Screening with information on what we do. We need to get more people involved. We will put the Helping Hands poster up also so it will attract more attention and get more people to stop by and see what we do and how they can help.
Katie Denham – PTG Vice-President Katie was not in attendance this month.
Principal's Report – Kyle Rhoads
Kyle talked with the Sheriff’s department to see if they could be present at functions. There will be one at the talent show for no cost, but we will also need one for graduation. There is no guarantee that the coverage will be free. A minimum of 4 hours is $140.00. ($35.00 an hour)
High school scholarship decisions need to be made. Rosemary volunteered to help Ruth Venell and Dave Cote.
Can we use some of the playground money to make the rule signs?
Rosemary will check with Gary Burpee about a price for signs.
The SeaDogs game is coming up on June 3rd. Can the PTG pay for a bus again this year. It is a family event so parents are expected to ride the bus with their kids. A motion was made by Elise Miller to pay for the bus this year. The motion was seconded by Rosemary Dionne. All were in favor. The PTG will pay for the bus to the SeaDogs game again. Roughly $300.00.
K-4 Concert is on May 25th at 6:00PM. Note the earlier time.
Chorus and Band concert is on June 1st at 7:00pm.
The school conducted a NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND TEST and MEA test last month. CAT testing will be going on this week also. Next year there will be NWEA Testing. It is computer based and feedback will be given within 24 hours.
Next School year we will have trimester grading for K-8. A committee is being put together to discuss how and when to report out.
Thank you for all the help with the Teachers Duties again this year.
Teacher Representative – Tracy Scully
Money for the soda machines was turned in.
Sue Giguere is all set with raffle items for the talent show. She has also talked with everyone and seems to be all set to go.
The Energy Carnival is coming up on June 9th. Can the PTG donate money so she can buy prizes for the students? Tracy was allotted $100.00 to buy prizes for the Energy Carnival.
The Coca-Cola bill will be coming in this week.
Virginia Calvo – Thank you for all the PTG does. The Book fair is next week. Tuesday and Wednesday are the family nights. Book Buddies is not going good this year. Should it continue? We will do a survey at the beginning of the school year and see where it goes. It has been a long run and would like to continue but if it can’t then it was worth it through the years. THANKS AGAIN.
Theresa MacDonald – Thank you for everything you do and thanks for covering the duties.
Boxtops/Campbell’s Soup Labels/Tyson Update – Richard & Andrea Berry – The Boxtops check should be coming in soon. The Tyson labels aren't coming in as quickly as expected. Maybe we can have a drop box at the town hall and a poster explaining what it is about and see if we can get more in? Andrea will work on this over the next month or so.
Volunteer Updates – Rosemary Dionne
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast was ok. Not too many people at all. Will do bigger for next year. Sorry it didn’t go so well. Got so busy with Odyssey of the Mind and vacation. Rosemary will do a thank you letter to the Café for all the help. Elise will have Mark work on thank you cards for giving out. Maybe do a postcard instead of Flyers next year. Make it more personal for each volunteer.
Will work with Sue Small in the future to bridge the gap between the school volunteers and the PTG volunteers. A lot of people volunteer at functions but are not able to attend the meetings.
Do we have a lot of Ice Cream left? Cheryl will check on it.
Channel 12 you can put any NON-PROFIT advertisement on their channel. It is Free and they need to know at least 5 days ahead of time.
Kyle suggested maybe having a little ceremony at the Family cookout naming the volunteers and give them a flower and show everyone all the people that volunteer and maybe that would get more people involved.
The Student Council could help out with the counting of the Campbell Soup labels.
Burpee Signs never charged us for the mission statement and banner. We need to send him a thank you.
