President’s and Vice President’s Report- Cheryl Camire & Katie Denham
Cheryl Camire – PTG President
o There is a filing cabinet set up in the teacher's room for PTG stuff. There are folders, letterhead, log-in sheets, etc in the file cabinet. Cheryl encouraged the PTG members to unload their personal file boxes if they are getting heavy. Also this will give everyone a chance to look at past minutes, treasurer’s reports, etc if they would like too.
o Thank you to everyone who helped out at the Open House dinner last Tuesday. Approximately 75 people attended. And it was a wonderful dinner also.
o Elise has the binder for the thank you notes this month.
Katie Denham – PTG Vice-President
Katie gave the binder for thank you notes to Elise for this month. The next person on the list will get it for the month of November at the next PTG meeting.
Principal's Report – Kyle Rhoads (Kyle was not in attendance this month but Tim Tyler had the information to pass on)
Thank you for the great dinner on Open House night and thanks for all we do. It was wonderful.
Tim handed out a copy of the new Mid-Trimester reports to look at. There are slight variations on the values side due to wording for the different grade levels. Hopefully this will be easier for everyone to get on the same reporting level.
Teacher Representative – Tracy Scully –
The 7th grade Explore Math Students are taking over the Soda Machines. They will be doing the ordering, inventory, stocking, etc. And they will also be counting the money from the machines weekly. Mrs. Reeves will be overseeing the counting of the money. This is a great way for the kids to learn the different aspects of how to do different things. They will be considering it a mini business while using various math skills to organize, order supplies, stock machines, create bank deposits, and record profit/loss.
Theresa MacDonald wrote a note to the PTG which Tracy read and she asked for the money for 3 beanbag chairs for the Reading/Resource room. They are approximately $18.95 each at Wal-Mart. Rosemary Dionne made a motion to give the money to purchase the beanbag chairs. Andrea Berry seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Tricia Halliday – This is the 13th year for the 6th grade camping trip. We had 51 volunteers this year. Each volunteer stayed for 3 hours shifts. Over the past 13 years we have had over 3000 hours of volunteers for this camping trip. This is a very successful yearly event. Thanks for everything and to all who helped out.
Patricia Reeves – Wednesday, October 5th at 6:00PM is opening night for OM (volunteers, coaches, and judges are needed). The PTG has been instrumental in getting OM off the ground and helping with its continued success. A thought about creating a Booster Club has been discussed because fundraising in 3 weeks is very difficult.
Tim Tyler – Nothing to report on. But thank you for all you do.
Catherine Eshleman – Would like to do something in the spring for the kids. Maybe the Symphonic Band. They try to go to the smaller schools and expose the kids to the reality of music and show them the different musical instruments that are not available at the school. It could be a day or even an evening assembly. We just need to pay for their meal. It is great recruitment for kids. It is a free concert but will accept donations. Hopefully advertise for it and make it big.
UPDATES - Nothing to report this month.
VOLUNTEER UPDATE – If a volunteer is needed, don't hesitate to call Rosemary Dionne.
FUNDRAISING UPDATE – Fran Bodkin Booklets full of entertainment tickets- buy one, get one free, T-shirts, etc. More to come next month as Stacy wasn’t here this month. Scrapping for Schools is in the organization stage. We have 6-7 vendors so far.
